Journalism
Over the past few years, Larry Carter has become one of the premier journalists in motorsport and in particular, motorcycle road racing and stage rallying. A former multiple road racing champion himself, in the past he has raced against a number of today's top Superbike stars and is a personal friend to many of them.
Genuinely articulate, supremely knowledgeable and increasingly well respected, Larry's services continue to be very much in demand by the national, specialist and local media alike and over the past few years has written for a host of top publications.
Amongst his accolades is as current Editor of The World’s Number One Road Race Magazine – Motorcycle Racer – which has become a firm favourite in the four years he’s been in charge. Increasing sales are testament to the fact and demand regularly outstrips supply on the bookshelves meaning subscriptions are constantly increasing. During his tenure at Racer, Carter has introduced many innovations, including the cult Ollie Bridewell column which continued right up until his tragic death in 2007.
Included in the other titles are his now legendary weekly columns in the hugely popular Darlington and Stockton Times which are a must for local motorsport fans and in addition, Carter’s words are read by BSB fans throughout the country as he pens the words for many of the British Superbike Championship race programmes. He’s also a valued contributor of rally and rallycross reports to Motorsport News on a regular basis.
In the past Larry has been a regular contributor to publications such as TWO and Bike Sport News, for whom he supplied the BSB reports and features for over two years and before occupying the Editor’s seat at ‘Racer’, whereby he supplied various forms of copy including interviews and features of the world's leading riders. They even entrusted Larry to write the moving obituaries to his good friends Steve Hislop and David Jefferies following their tragic accidents which drew great admiration from fans worldwide.
The ubiquitous ‘Seeing Red’, the annual record of the British Superbike Championship, has been regularly edited by Carter and plans are afoot for the Cartersport offices to write another book soon.
