BULLDOG SERVES UP END OF SEASON FEAST
The final round of the 2007 Hankook MSA Gravel Rally Championship takes place this forthcoming Saturday, 21st October, as the popular Bulldog Rally gets underway from the innovative Rally Base in the Shropshire market town of Oswestry.

Despite the destiny of the 2007 ANCRO drivers and co drivers titles being decided on the previous round in Killarney in favour of Marcus Dodd and Andrew Bargery, the leading crews will again be in action in the forests of mid Wales to do battle for the final bragging rights of an exciting 2007 season.

VK Vodka Kick driver Steve Perez from Chesterfield, along with Berwickshire co driver Claire Mole, led the series for most of the season after a string of podiums in their Ford Focus WRC but despite rolling out of the Border Counties Rally in March, Poole's Marcus Dodd and Hove co driver Andrew Bargery bounced back and put together a string of three victories in their HPM Motorsport Hyundai Accent WRC to clinch the ANCRO National title for a third following Marcus' success in 2000 and 2001.

Perez, however, will be looking for consolation having never won the Wolverhampton & South Staffs Car Club event and with local ace Howard Davies on the notes, he stands a good chance of rectifying that and with it, claiming an unprecadented clean sweep of podium places. Dodd last sampled victory in 2001 and would dearly love to go out on a high as it is rumoured, he may not be back to defend his crown next season.

Both crews will be looking to the threat posed by local ace Andrew Burton and co-driver Shelley Rogerson who are expected to feature well and although they are not registered for the championship, their legendary 2.9 litre Peugeot Cosworth is a trick tool in the Welsh forests. Other leading lights in the rally should include Jon Ingram's Subaru, Damien Cole (Hyundai) and local man Nigel Griffiths (Subaru).

Subaru Group N Trophy Champions Jock Armstrong and Kirsty Riddick will be looking to add more silverware in the supporting classes whilst and Rod Bennett (Fiat) will be battling for honours as he leads the HPM Motorsport 2WD Challenge. The Nissan Micra Kitcar of Kevin Wills will be looking to wrap up the VK1400 Challenge and John Lloyd heads the Prima Motorsport 'Old Stagers' award in his Ford Focus WRC whereby all will looking for further success on the event.

Also in action will be competitors in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Challenge for their eighth and final round but with Ulsterman Phillip Morrow clinching the title on the previous round, the battle is on for second place with Coleford driver Nik Elsmore, Daniel Barry from Enniskerry and County Durham driver Stephen Petch all looking to improve their scores.

The event also incorporates the penultimate round of the 2007 Hankook Forest Rally Clubman's Challenge series with the Ford Fiesta ST of Carryduff's Jonny Greer holding a slender four point advantage over the Ford Escort of John Evans with another Ford Fiesta ST in the hands of Elfyn Evans a further three points adrift in third on the event which comprises a round of the M-Sport Fiesta Sporting Trophy.
