The final circuit car race action of the year takes place at Croft Circuit, North Yorkshire this forthcoming weekend (September 26/27th) when Darlington & District Motor Club organises their Club Meeting to bring down the curtain on a truly memorable 2009 season.
A packed timetable on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday will incorporate a fifteen race programme which gets underway following practice on Saturday morning with the MG Cockshoot Cup at 2.15pm followed by the first of four races for the DDMC-organised Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship (NSSCC). With further races for Monoposto single seaters, The Porsche Club Championship and the Sedric Bell Trophy Race the afternoon should be action packed.
The NSSCC 2009 Championship goes to the wire with potentially six drivers capable of taking the title. Darlington's Paul Moss leads the standings in his Citroen Saxo ahead of the BMW M3 of York driver Mike Cutt whereas Mark Armstrong (Rover 200) and Dave Brewis (Lotus Elise) are still in the hunt.
Darlington's John Hewitson faces a race against time to get his Westfield ready following engine failure at the previous round at Cadwell Park whilst Brian Morris will be absent, racing at Spa instead.
Meanwhile the Sedric Bell Trophy race has attracted an entry from a number of Porsche drivers in 993 RSR Cup cars as well as Newcastle legend Jeff Wilson in the Jade Trackstar, any one of which could take outright honours.
Sunday sees the race action start at 1pm following two qualifying sessions for Monoposto whereby forty-two Monoposto single seaters, ranging from the bike-engined Jedi through Vauxhall Junior to Vauxhall Lotus, will target the circuit lap record over two championship races and a non-championship challenge race.
Local drivers feature in a number of the races with Richmond driver Mark McAleer and Bedale's Mike Clapham joining Ingleby Barwick NSSCC regular Dave Botterill in the Porsche Club GB championship. Hoping to dominate proceedings too in the MG Cockshoot Cup will be the Aycliffe pairing of Paul and Margaret Farquhar-Rigg.
Saturday kicks off with practice at 9.30am with racing starting at 2.15pm with Sunday's action commencing at 13.00. Admission is £10 each day with accompanied children aged 15 and under admitted FREE.
