One of Britain’s most popular racers, Tommy Bridewell, is the latest star rider to pledge his support for the Castle Combe Grand National, which takes place at the Wiltshire track on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September 2018.
Having recently signed for the Winchester-based Moto Rapido Ducati team in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, Bridewell, from nearby Devizes, will join the likes of Freddie Spencer, Leon Haslam, Ian Hutchinson, Peter Hickman and Steve Parrish at the Wiltshire track’s annual extravaganza in a month’s time.
BSB race winner Tommy is also a past winner at the Castle Combe Grand National meeting and knows his way around his local track, and plans are afoot for him to take in a few demonstration laps on the ex-James Ellison PBM MotoGP bike which owner Phil Morris will be displaying over the weekend.
“With Castle Combe being my local track, I’ve always had a great relationship with the people here, so I was delighted to accept the invite to come along and be part of the show. As well as meeting the fans, I’m hoping to get a few laps on the Aprilia MotoGP machine as I’ve never ridden one so I’m really looking forward to the opportunity, but it will be different to my BSB-spec Moto Rapido Ducati for sure,” said Bridewell.
There are still a few tickets remaining for the Evening with the Legends on Saturday 1st September which will see three-times World Champion ‘Fast’ Freddie Spencer and former 500cc Grand Prix racer and British Champion Steve Parrish regale the audience with their stories from yesteryear in the Strawford Centre.
Then on Sunday 2nd September, the Ultimate VIP Experience is available with TT legend Ian Hutchinson and Bennetts BSB Championship leader Leon Haslam joining Spencer and Parrish, as well as other celebrity guests for a day of fun. The VIP package includes:
1 x VIP Sunday entry ticket, autographs and photo opportunities with the stars, a buffet style lunch, VIP car parking, race programme, comfortable prime viewing space to watch the racing in the Strawford Centre, tea, coffee and soft drinks throughout the day, afternoon cakes and a cash bar.
Tickets for both packages are selling fast and cost £20 for the Evening with the Legends and £60 (£30 ages 10-17, £20 under 9) for the Ultimate VIP Experience and for further details and a booking form, please visit http://bikesatcombe.com/vip-experience/
The action on track includes a packed programme of racing organised by NG Road Racing Club and featuring a number of major championships over the weekend. With some of the best club race action in the country which always leads to packed grids, Race Director Steve Bostock and his team will once again deliver an end of summer feast which is expected to include around 20 races each day over the weekend.
