Silverstone is the venue for round nine of the BTCC-supporting MSA F4 British Championship this weekend and sees Fortec Motorsport driver Frank Bird going in search of more points in the Be Wiser, Hager and Frank Bird Poultry-backed car.

Having recently celebrated his 17th birthday, after three successive rounds in which he scored points mid-fb1 season, the Penrith-born driver missed out at the previous round at Rockingham so is determined to bounce back at the home of the British Grand Prix.

Frank has spent time testing once again this week in damp conditions at Anglesey so is planning to end his debut season in the class with a flourish both this weekend at Silverstone and at the final round next month at Brands Hatch. He’s hoping to make it a double celebration as dad Paul’s Be Wiser Ducati British Superbike Championship team are also in action at Donington Park at the first of the Showdown rounds.

Another big crowd is expected to converge at the Northamptonshire track as part of the Dunlop MSA British fbTouring Car Championship with millions more watching the action live on ITV4.

Frank Bird: “I’m looking forward to Silverstone this weekend as it’s always an honour to drive at the track which hosts the British Grand Prix. I haven’t done that much testing there but hopefully that won’t matter and we can get some good results over the weekend. It’s important to try to get some more points on the board after missing out at Rockingham so I’ll be trying my best as always.”
