Britain’s most versatile racer is the latest name to be added to the attractions at the Castle Combe Grand National which comprises the West Country’s biggest bike race meeting later this summer.
Smiths Racing BMW star Peter Hickman will join a list of stars at the annual event which this year is supported by Motorcycle Accident Management Services (McAMS) and which takes place at the Wiltshire track on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September 2018.
Hickman became the fastest ever rider around the Isle of Man TT course when he set a lap record of 135.452mph on his way to winning this year’s Senior TT aboard the Gloucester-based Smiths BMW. As well as success on the Isle of Man, ‘Hicky’ won a race at the North West 200 to add to his four Ulster Grand Prix victories.
What will be particularly interesting for race fans is when the fastest man in British racing takes to the fastest track as Peter is scheduled to do a few demonstration laps on the ex-Broc Parkes PBM Aprilia MotoGP bike as campaigned by the Australian racer back in 2014. The exotic and unique British-built machine, capable of 200mph, is now owned by Welshman Phil Morris who will bring another ex-PBM machine ridden originally by James Ellison to display
Tickets are selling well for the Evening with the Legends on Saturday 1st September which will see three-times World Champion ‘Fast’ Freddie Spencer and former 500cc Grand Prix racer and British Champion Steve Parrish regale the audience with their stories from yesteryear in the Strawford Centre.
Then on Sunday 2nd September, the Ultimate VIP Experience is available with TT legend Ian Hutchinson and Bennetts BSB Championship leader Leon Haslam joining Spencer and Parrish, as well as other celebrity guests for a day of fun. The VIP package includes:

The action on track includes a packed programme of racing organised by NG Road Racing Club and featuring a number of major championships over the weekend. With some of the best club race action in the country which always leads to packed grids, Race Director Steve Bostock and his team will once again deliver an end of summer feast which is expected to include around 20 races each day over the weekend.
