North Yorkshire off-road motorcycle racer Robbie Wallace is continuing his intense preparations ahead of the 2025 Dakar Rally where he is set to compete early next year.
As part of the build-up, the 27-year-old electrical engineer from Northallerton competed in the Rock Oil Cross Country Championship at Driffield recently where he finished in second overall. The two-hour race on the extremely rough course on MOD land saw him complete three laps to bring the TCC Plant-supported machine home safely despite the tough conditions.

Now plans are turning to the Dakar Rally which will be held in Saudi Arabia from 3rd to 17th January 2025. Robbie’s specialist clothing, race licence, medical insurance and bike graphics have all been sorted, as have the tyres he will need to complete the world’s toughest off-road event, as he combines his day job with all the training and preparation for the upcoming challenge.
Indeed, Robbie has been invited to contest the Baja Qatar which takes place on the weekend of 31 October to 2 November. The event is part of the 2024 FIM Baja World Cup which is held over eight rounds in Europe and the Middle East and will see him compete in conditions he’s likely to experience when he makes his debut on the Dakar Rally in January.
Robbie has just launched his ‘Mission Dakar’ website where supporters can purchase items of merchandise as well as corporate sponsorship packages. Please visit https://missiondakar.com.
- As part of the final preparations, Robbie and the team are organising a ‘Mission Dakar’ launch evening to take place at the Golden Lion Hotel in Northallerton.
- The event, which is on Friday 8th November in the Yorkshire Suite, will see celebrities from both the car and bike racing worlds attend along with Robbie to take part in a chat show. There will also be a raffle and auction for lots including VIP British Superbike and British Touring Car hospitality packages, as well as many other unique prizes still to be announced. Admission is free and the evening starts at 7.30pm.

Notes to Editors
The 47th edition of the Dakar will see around 140 motorcycle competitors, as well as hundreds of car, buggy and truck drivers from all over the world converge on Bisha in the south west of Saudi Arabia starting with technical checks and administration on January 1st/2nd 2025 and then the Prologue on January 3rd 2025 before the competition starts in earnest the following day. There then follows a mighty 950km stage over two days on varied terrain, with competitors required to camp out overnight in the desert in a bivouac. At least five stages of the 2025 Dakar will take place on separate courses for safety purposes to reduce the danger of cars and trucks overtaking bikes, and another feature of the 2025 event is riders will have to service their own bikes for up to 800km on a couple of days. After 14 days incorporating 12 stages, Shubaytah, in the eastern part of the country and near the Abu Dhabi border, will welcome the weary finishers.
