Following extensive hard work by the committee over the past year, Cramlington & District Motor Club (C&DMC) are delighted to announce that they will run an Autocross meeting on Sunday 6th October 2024.
The event will take place near Ponteland, Northumberland using a spacious and flat field just off the A696 and organisers are appealing for support from both competitors and marshals to ensure the event is a success.
The against-the-clock, grass-roots sport caters for all types of vehicles from road-going saloons to Autocross specials and buggies and just about everything in between with classes stipulated by engine size and performance.
Run in heats of four cars around the marked-out course of around 1000m in stubble field, competitors are timed in all four heats with the fastest two heats counting towards the finals, which will incorporate the top 16 drivers from the day.
For Junior drivers and those competitors who so choose, such as those in rally cars, they can compete singularly rather than as a mass start to reduce possible damage. Cars can be shared, and minimal safety equipment is needed, although all Motorsport UK (MSUK) standards are complied with in line with the authorised permit.
The entry fee is £100 and entries close on Monday 30th September 2024. Competitors are reminded to ensure helmets and fire extinguishers are in date. For anyone interested in marshalling, please check out details on the club information site as below or email Jon Olds: nxg911@gmail.com.
