Reigning MSA Junior Rallycross champion Tom Constantine was in action in rounds three and
four of the Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Championship this weekend at Pembrey in South Wales where he endured mixed fortunes over the two days’ racing.
The 18 year old from Richmond, North Yorkshire was again contesting the prestigious Swift Sport Championship within the BRX series and following his fantastic runner-up spot in round one at Silverstone, was hoping to make up for the disappointment of not making the final at round two at Lydden Hill two months’ ago.
With backing from Advanced Vehicle Leasing, Teesside Karting, MP Groundworks and Plant Hire of Northallerton, Sig Leeds, Intermezzo Drive, Wray Joinery Limited, DJR Smith, Victoria Garage Richmond Ltd, Royal Purple Lubricants and Constantine Building Services, Tom’s weekend got off to a great start with a win and a second place in the heats before finishing runner-up in the final to ensure a decent points haul in round three, to repeat his opening round heroics.
Round four today, however, wasn’t quite as successful due to the inclement weather and the different track configuration but Tom still managed to claim fifth place in the final to score important points to keep his championship challenge on track.
Tom Constantine: “Saturday was a good day, we had a fourth, a second and a win in the heats
and had a great time in the final with a close second place. Today, however, wasn’t as good. I struggled a bit with my pace on the anti-clockwise circuit but battled through the rain to claim a fifth place in the final. It’s not really where I wanted to end the weekend but it’s still valuable points so thanks to all the sponsors and my team for their support as normal.”
The next round of the series takes place on August Bank Holiday Monday at Lydden Hill in Kent.
