Reigning MSA Junior Rallycross champion Tom Llewellin claimed his second podium of the season with runner-up spot at round three of the Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Championship at Croft on bank holiday Sunday.
Having recently celebrated his 17th birthday, Tom from Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire was again contesting the Swift Sport Championship for Peter Gwynne Motorsport (PGM) in the Suzuki Swift and after the difficult weather conditions at the opening two rounds, round three was swathed in sunshine at the North Yorkshire track.
The young Welshman romped through the qualifying heats taking a couple of fourth places and a second before securing victory in the semi-final. In the final itself, Llewellin came home in a battling second place to continue his championship challenge.
Tom Llewellin: “Croft was where I got my first win in the Suzuki Swift Championship last October, but I wasn’t able to replicate that this time out. I battled hard and enjoyed a good race in the final, but it wasn’t enough to take the win but I’m happy with second place. It’s more important points in the championship so I’d like to thank the PGM Team who again did a great job and thanks also to my sponsors and family.”
Rounds four and five take place over a double-header weekend on June 23/24th at Pembrey in Wales. For further information, please visit www.swiftseries.com and www.swiftrallycross.com. Follow Tom on https://www.facebook.com/TomLlewellinRallying/
